Kristen grew up moving around the United States as the daughter of a father who worked for the National Park Service. She spent many of those years in the Midwest growing up in Iowa and Indiana. She attended Colorado State University after her family moved to Colorado where she received her undergraduate degree in Exercise Science/Sports Medicine. She stayed at Colorado State where she worked as an Athletic Trainer for the athletic department as she earned her Master’s Degree in Education with emphasis in Human Resource Development. While at Colorado State, she was the first woman to travel as an athletic trainer with the Football Program. She was also the Head Athletic Trainer for Women’s Basketball.

Prior to earning her Doctorate Degree in Physical Therapy from Regis University, Kristen worked for over 10 years as an athletic trainer in both professional sports and clinical settings. She was the Head Athletic Trainer for the USA Rugby Men’s 15’s and 7’s National Teams, where she traveled nationally and internationally caring for their healthcare needs and injuries, including working with the 7’s team at the Pan Am Games in Guadalajara, Mexico. She also served as the Assistant Athletic Trainer for the Colorado Rapids Soccer Club where she assessed injuries, provided treatments and created rehabilitation programs, returning players back to full active participation. She currently continues to work as a member of the medical staff for USA Rugby.

As a former competitive gymnast for 10 years, Kristen has always had a passion and interest in learning as much as she can about human movement and how to help the human body perform optimally in caring for the whole person. Her background as a gymnast and athletic trainer in professional sports work have led to her to develop a keen interest in neuroscience, orthopedics and sports medicine in spine and extremities, including hip, knee, shoulder and ankle. Throughout her career, she has utilized evidence-based practice in returning individuals to prior level of function following ACL reconstruction. Her years of training and experience has lead her to recognize the importance of manual therapy in her treatment plans, and is certified in lower extremity Active Release Technique (ART) and trigger point dry needling.
